Peter started
Refereeing Junior and U/18 games in 1992. In 1994 he started Refereeing
U/21’s, 3rd grade and Reserve grade. In 1995 he Refereed 1st
grade on 3 occasions and was also inducted into the ARL ranks as a Touch Judge
and an In Goal Touch Judge. He was delisted from the ARL ranks in 1998 due to
the demise of the ARL team in
Perth
.
From 1998 to 2003 Peter Refereed Reserve grade and 1st grade games.
He Refereed Reserve grade in the 1999 Grand Final, 1st grade Grand
Finals in 2000, 2001 and 2003. Peter was also awarded the Ron Hudson Medal in
2000, 2001 and 2003. Peter has been the Association President since 1997.

Liam
took up Refereeing in 1992. Stan Parkin tutored him through the terminology and
rules. Peter Marshall examined him on the rules and subsequently he passed and
was given his preliminary referees ticket. Under the watchful eye of John
Wharton he progressed up through the age groups and into the senior ranks with
touch judging and Metro Cup middles. One of the Metro Cup games that Liam
refereed was in Geraldton against
North
Beach
.
In 1997 Liam refereed his first 3rd grade Grand Final. Since then
under Martin Weekes he has officiated in the following Grand Finals; U/17’s
2000, Reserve grade in 2002 and 3rd grade in 2003 and numerous times
as a touch judge. A highlight at the end of 2002 season for Liam was he refereed
the U/18’s Emerging States National team vs
South
Africa
.
To follow this up in 2003 he refereed the Anzac game between
Perth
Kiwis and
Perth
and then at the end of the season he refereed the representative Pilbra team and
the combined Metro team. Liam was on the social committee in 2000 and was Gear
Steward in 2003.

Mike Sims
Profile: Mike
started his
Rugby
League career as a player with the Currumbin-Tugun Seahawks U/12s on the Gold
Coast. He began refereeing at the age of 13 with the Gold Coast Junior Referees
Association. At the age of 17 he came to
Perth
and began playing with the Joondalup Giants. In 1993 he toured with the U/17s
state side to
Newcastle
and won the Giant’s U/18s Best & Fairest award. He played Colts and First
Grade in Joondalup’s first year in the top grade, but injury saw him go back
to refereeing junior football with the WARLRA in 1995 and 1996. Work saw to it
that he took an extended hiatus from both playing and refereeing between 1997 to
2003, then he came back to play with the Giants again. In his last season as a
player he was a member of the Giants 3rd Grade premiership side of
2004. In that year he also returned to refereeing and travelled to
South Australia
for the U/15 National Championships. In 2005 he turned to refereeing full time
and was appointed to his first Premier Grade matches and the U/18 Grand Final.

Moore
Profile:
John
got his Referees ticket in 1981. He has refereed all junior grades and finals
and refereed in all grades of senior football. John has been on the executive
committee on numerous occasions, the coaching panel for many years and from 1987
– 1998 on the Referees Appointment Panel and was chairman of the panel
1996/1997. Some of the awards that John has won whilst Refereeing are: 1986 Most
Improved Referee, 1992 Ron Hudson Award Referee’s Referee, 1994 Life
Membership to the Referees Association, 2002 Ron Hudson referee’s Referee
again, John is still active in Refereeing and has been on the WARL Judiciary
since 1999 and still holds a position on the panel today.

Profile:
Martin
is the Director responsible for promotions for the ARLRA. He is a Life Member
with
South
Sydney
and NSW Referees Associations. Martins Refereeing career spans 28 years in which
he has officiated as a centre Referee and touch judge. He has been appointed to
ARL First Grade Grand Finals, State of
Origin
fixtures and Test Matches. Martin also serves as the Director of
Referees
in
Western
Australia
.

Bissett
Profile:
John
finished playing football for Eastern Suburbs in 1967 and became a Junior
Referee with the likes of Greg Hartley and Kevin Roberts also former
footballers. He was graded to senior ranks in 1971 but after a few seasons
ceased refereeing due to family and work commitments. John did a little local
coaching to maintain his interest. John moved to Perth in 1981 and prior to the
formation of Super League joined the WARLRA and became an assessor for the local
referees and also reported to Mick Stone on games when the Western reds played
at the WACA this appointment came about after a request from Dennis Bravbrook a
former colleague and then Director of the ARL Referees Association. Since that
time John has assisted Tom Waller, Barry Barnes, Tony Butler and now Martin
Weekes in coaching and support of local Referees. He has also participated on
the Judiciary Panel.
